On Easter weekend, my husband Mike and I visited my Grandma and Grandpa Carnegy who live in Medicine Hat Alberta. I am very close to my Grandparents and we had a great visit with them. We had to leave very early on Monday morning, to catch an early morning flight from Calgary back to Toronto. As we each wanted to enjoy a Tim Hortons coffee and bagel on the drive to Calgary, we asked my Grandparents on Sunday if Tim Hortons would be open at 4am on Monday morning. We were very pleased to learn that the Tim Hortons was open 24 hours! So the next morning, we said our goodbyes and drove to the local Tim Hortons for our coffee and bagels. We placed our order at the drive through speaker, and when we arrived at the Window, the Tim Hortons employee said..."uh, uh...there's a, a Grandma on the phone?" (An unusual phone call I'm sure). Drying my tears from saying goodbye to my Grandparents, I went inside and the employee passed me the telephone. It was my Grandma, and she said "your Grandfather wanted me to call to remind you to fill up with gas while in Medicine Hat because the gas stations along the highway might be closed between Medicine Hat and Calgary at this time of morning". It was a typical call from my Grandparents - always worried for us, and wanting us to be safe. But we'll always remember Tim Hortons playing a role in our morning departure from Medicine Hat Alberta, and is part of a fond memory of our visit with my Grandparents.
