Our road trip started out as a plane trip before hitting ground and traveling around Ireland for a week in a car with my girlfriend and 2 other friends, Jay and Kerri. We traveled from the East coast to the West coast and spent a while in Dublin during the St. Patrick's Day festival. It was a pleasant surprise while walking down one of the main streets of Dublin to find a store selling brewed Tim Horton's coffee! It was comforting to know that we didn't have to go through our trip without some Timmie's even across the pond. After taking a photo of the sign and continuing on our way we found ourselves at Blarney Castle a little ways outside of Dublin. Of course we had to climb to the top of kiss the famous Blarney Stone. Little did my girlfriend know that I had another plan while visiting the top of the castle. To give you some brief background, my girlfriend Allison and I had been together for 9 years and I'm sure she was getting impatient waiting for me to commit. Taking so long to do so meant I really needed to step up and make it really special. Now, back to the castle... After Allison reluctantly laid over the side of the castle to kiss the stone, she sat back up to face me, who was down on one knee with an opened box in hand. The crowd of people waiting in line at the top of the castle broke out into applause and the man working the stone took his hat off for me. I had successfully, with the help of my two friends, smuggled the diamond ring across the US border, onto a plane, and through Ireland without my girlfriend finding out. And the answer you ask? She said yes! Looking forward to the big day in 2010. And will Tim Horton's be present at the wedding reception? Definitely!

Congrats on the engagement AND on the stellar proposal :) (and who knew there was a Tim's in Dublin?!)
Great job on the proposal Brandon! Well thought out and Congrats to both of you... Cheers, T
That's great!! I did the same thing in Aug 2008 at Dunluce Castle in Northern Ireland No one knew except her dad. I asked him the morning of our trip to Dunluce. I was so nervous for the first 2 and a half weeks carrying the ring around trying to keep it a secret. I was sure I was busted when we went through security at Heathrow, they made me open my camera bag (that's where I hid it) for a random inspection, luckily the security guard caught on and she quickly rushed me through with a smile and a wink. Cheers!!
What a great story!! Congrats and best wishes.
