A trike, a trip and a Tim Horton's

My husband and I travel a lot on our beloved Honda Goldwing Trike. We recently drove through pouring rain from Ontario to New Brunswick, crossing the border first at Prescott, ON into the US and in St. Stephen, NB to return to Canada. On our trip through the US we could not locate any Tim Hortons. We were soaked through from heavy rain in spite of special motorcycle rain clothing. We were cold, getting impatient, waiting in a 1/2 mile line up at the US/Canadian Border. All we could think about: Hopefully there will be a Timmy's in St. Stephen. While crossing the bridge, a friendly van driver pulled down his window and warned us not to take the upcoming road through St. Stephen. It had deep pot-holes. Again, we felt even more tired, wet and frustrated. Luckily, just past the border we found "Timmys" with an extra large double cream for my hubby and a honey lemon tea for myself, hot soups and chili and friendly staff. Some local patrons again warned us about using the main drag with "da potoles". Two very friendly local contractors, taking a break at Tim Hortons, gave us an explanation to an alternate road via some side roads. We tried to listen, but were tired, exhausted and had a bit of difficulty following the local accent "without a translator". A friendly Thank you and a smile, finishing our food and drink and off we were. Our friendly contractor had other things in mind. He offered that we could follow him leaving Tim Hortons. "I am going in that direction, just follow me - you just gotta turn right when I turn left. You see the "new road" (HW1) coming up there a bit further up. We took him up on his offer. We got to the "new road" without any damage to us, without waiting in line and with good memories of the friendly people of St. Stephen, New Brunswick and their local Tim Hortons.
