My hubby and I took our 25 year old motorcycle for a once in a lifetime tour of Newfoundland for 2 weeks. We have travelled across the island enjoying all the people, the places and of course our energy fuel - Tim Horton's coffee. After a week on the road we ended up in Champney's East, a little fishing village on Trinity Bay. The town was hosting a Champney's East Day which included games for the children, homemade soups (like moose soup - really yummy), and an afternoon Bingo game - all fund raising to keep their town hall alive for another year. We paid our money - and I played my first bingo game in years. I won! I won crab meat, flour, tooth paste, a free cut and a lot of other things. I took my loot to our guests home and donated it to the family. Our hostess also won. She donated some free gas to us. The next day we stopped and picked up our gas and a local biker pulled up beside and started chatting about his life on the island. He said "buddy, wanna go for a ride into Clarenville and stop at Tim Horton's?" We said 'ábsolutely' enjoying his gesture of Newfoundland hospitality. We chatted about how we wished our bike was clean. Our new friend says he has a shop and we can clean it there anytime we're in Clarenville for FREE! We had a lovely drive with our oldie, but goldie - with Glenn and his beautiful Harley. First order of business - line up at Tim's and we buy the coffees. We also thrilled the server because the blueberry blossom had just come out and I was the first person who ordered it from him. We sat outside at a picnic table and just chatted about life on bikes and life in Newfoundland. Like old friends, bound by the one the one thing we all can't do without - our Tim's coffee. Final order of business - Glenn and my hubby ride to his shop and wash our bike and made her sparkle for the next leg to St. John's. Finished off with another Tim's and a big hug from a stranger turned friend in Newfoundland.
