When I first moved to Wiarton, Ontario, I didn't know a soul. The second week I was here, I started going to Tim's for coffee at 6 a.m, which is the normal time that I got up each day. On My third day, a man asked if he could sit at my table. He had noticed me there alone, and thought I looked lonely. His name was Ernie. After that, he came in and met me there every morning at that time, and we soon became good friends, joking around and discussing every subject under the rainbow. I learned about what went on in the community and got to know many other patrons. After about 6 mos., my kids started asking me if I managed to meet other people in the community, and made any new friends. Now, you have to know me. I'm a shy person, especially with men, so when I told them that I knew all the men in town, but not many women, they were a bit shockied; but they had a good laugh at me. I explained that women didn't go for coffed that early, and I didn't go later. Well, Ernie and I continue to be good friends until he passed on as the result of a brain anurism. You can still find me at Tim's every morning at 6 a.m. having my morning coffed, socializing with all of my male friends. Tim Hortons was a life saver for me.
