In 1997, my family and I immigrated to Calgary from England...nobody has ever heard of Tim Horton's over there, and doughnuts are simply sugar coated or jam filled...nothing "exotic!" We rented the worst basement suite in the world for the first 2 months while we found a home of our own! It was purgatory and Tim's was our (life)saving grace! Every evening, once the kids were tucked up in bed, and the landlady was home to listen for them, we'd escape to the sanctity of Tim's for a coffee and a doughnut! The same lady served us every night, and always wore drive-thru headphones...she told us her "other" job was landing planes at Calgary airport. Our enjoyment of Tim's was cemented during those days...a bright light at the end of each less-than-happy day! But we sure are HAPPY now! Canada and Tim's...we love you both! You were our warm hug on many cold days!
