Every morning before our walk I would go through the Tim Horton's drive through and order an extra large coffee along with a plain timbit for my chocolate lab Clarence. So to say that Clarence liked his timbit would be a hugh understatement. He LOVED Timbits. If we encounted any sort of line he would begin pitching a fit. He often barked into the speaker and his friends inside always knew when he was coming through. It was not uncommon to see a crowd of workers at the window to watch Clarence come through. He would stick his big head out the back window. His friends inside would give him his timbit directly, in a bag, which he enthusiastically grabbed and proceeded to shred in the back of my car in order to get that timbit. Needless to say it was quite a sight. When Clarence was 9 he developed bone cancer. Part of his treatment was a special diet which unfortunately did not include timbits. His friends at Tim Hortons would give him dog bisquits in the bag. He ate them but it was just not the same. When Clarence could not longer fight his cancer, I had to make the very difficult and sad decision to make a final trip to the vet. On the way we made one last trip through the drive-thru and Clarence got one last order. He got a bag full of chocolate timbits which he ate with happiness I had not seen in a while. It is a memory I will always cherish. We have started the tradition with a new choclate Lab Clarebelle who has an equal love of timbits and sometimes bacon too! A great big thank you to Tim Hortons and the wonderful souls at Lovejoy, Seneca St and Harlem Rd for making my big brown angels so happy.
