I have no tale of sadness or honor to tell. No touching wedding story, of which Tim Horton’s was somehow, or in some way a special guest of. Nope. I just really, really, love the stuff. So much so, that I aptly named my first child after the commonly used Tim Horton’s term "Double - Double". Okay I didn’t, but I swear those were said child's first words! Anyways, I have always thought of Tim Horton’s as more of a “feeling” than an experience. Like feelings of appreciation and enjoyment when sipped on in times of happiness, or feelings of gratitude for its warmth in times of sadness. Feelings of pride, for nowhere else in the world will you see people lined up by the dozens at a drive thru, patiently waiting for their turn to order what has become a little taste of Canada.
Tim Horton’s has become so interwoven in our lives, that the calendar no longer dictates the seasons for our family, Timmies does. Fall isn’t officially fall until they start serving their delicious pumpkin doughnuts. Winter hasn’t arrived until we see their candy cane doughnuts and hot chocolate on the menu. And only has spring officially sprung, when it’s time to Rrroll up the rim to win! Pam & Jackie, just two of the friendly faces I see daily working at our local Timmies, have become like family. They were there to give my son hot chocolate and congratulate him on his first day of school, and to suggest a Honey Cruller as a softer alternative to a bagel when his first tooth was wobbly.
So here it is my love letter to Tim Horton’s. No tale of sadness or honor to tell, just an opportunity to share with the masses a few of the many reasons that I really, really love Tim Horton’s.
