My name is Rachel and I went on a first date with a man named Daniel on February 21st, 2009. We didn't live in the same city at the time, and I had come to Saskatoon for only two days and had to leave the following morning.

After having made many phone calls, we decided it was time to go on a real date. We had our first date planned so it would be one to remember. This included dinner, an art viewing and a walk by the river. As soon as we saw eachother, we immediately planted ourselves on his couch and began talking, laughing and sharing our stories with eachother about our past and what we had hoped for the future. We quickly lost track of time and talked straight into the night, not even realizing we had missed the plans we had both been so excited to follow through with.

We eventually both fell asleep, after having learned so much more about eachother. In the morning we awoke to the sunlight and I saw the face of the man I knew was going to be special to me. It was almost time for me to travel the four hours back to where I lived and I was dreading the end of this beautiful moment of my life. Daniel suggested we go to Tim Hortons, grab a cup of coffee, and make it our real first date.

At 9:30 on a Sunday morning, I had my first date with an amazing man. We arrived at the Tim Hortons and walked up to the counter to order. I immdiately knew what I wanted, as it's my usual, extra large double double, with a twelve grain bagel with herb and garlic cream cheese. Then I heard Daniel's voice, politely ask for the exact same thing for himself, before I could utter a word of what my preference was. Things couldn't have been more perfect. We spent the end of the most amazing weekend sharing more stories over coffee and bagels.

It was the first date I had with the man I am now engaged to and will be marrying in 2012. I will never forget the perfect ending to a perfect weekend. That morning we finished our coffee and bagels, and began our lives together.
