Thousands of miles away from home and away from family and friends a Tim Hortons

As a member of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves I had the honour and pleasure to be stationed in Kandahar Afghanistan twice in the last 4 years. Over those two tours I was in theatre for over 396 days.
Being away from my family and friends were at times really hard and lonely. You needed things from home to remind you of what you were over there for and to keep you focused on the task at hand.
From letters and chats on the computer the ONE thing that was tangible and made you feel you had a part of Canada over there with you was the opportunity to enjoy a Tim Hortons coffee.
My friends at work collected over 5000 dollars in Tim Hortons coffee coupons and I was able to distribute the coupons to soldiers who were in KAF for a day or were back in KAF because they were injured.
The small piece of home that allowed these soldiers to smile and remind them of home was worth more than you realize.
Thank you to my fellow employees at my civilian job for sending me all those coupons and best wishes on the back of the booklets and thank you to Tim Hortons for being over there.
God Bless!!
