In life, people come and go, and true friends will always be with you, one way or another. I had just moved to the city where I live now, and was a new parent for the first time in my life. Things were a little bit scary, and I felt a little bit lost as all of these life changes were happening around me. I was living next to an apartment building, and I would often see one of the tenants out on his balcony every morning, sipping his Tim Horton's coffee. He was a very friendly older man, who reminded me of my own grandfather from years ago; always asking how my family and I were doing, and offering to pick us up some coffee while he was out and bring it back, as he knew how busy I was being a new mom. Even though I used to say, "No, thank you, don't worry about us," he would do it anyways, without ever asking for anything in return.
As I'm sure many people can relate, having a new baby in your life means your schedule is no longer your own. Although I love my child more than anything in life, there were days when it was difficult to concentrate, as your schedule was never your own, and you could be awake all hours of the night any given time. There my neighbour would be in the mornings, with a fresh cup of steaming Tim Horton's coffee for me, and it may have been such a simple gesture at the time, but it was so welcomed.
As time went on, and my child got older, we would take our own excursions out to the local Tim Horton's every Saturday morning. There we would run into my neighbour, and his group of friends, and they always invited us over to sit with them and enjoy our coffee moments together. For me, Tim Horton's was, and still is, more than just a local coffee shop where I buy my steaming cup of coffee. It's the foundation of many solid friendships that I've been able to maintain over the years, and cultivated a community-like feeling for me and my child, at a time when we really needed that in our lives.
So, to Tim Horton's, and all the friends that I've met through your business along the way, I wanted to express my thanks. You've shown me what a community spirit is all about and create for truly meaningful moments that I probably wouldn't have had the chance to encounter anywhere else. These are wonderful sentiments that I can now pass on to my own child, that Tim Horton's is more than just a coffee shop, you are a life-long beautiful experience, and I know my thoughts on that won't change.
