A Concert to Remember

My son loves Nickelback so I purchased tickets at Molson Ampitheatre in Toronto. My friend and I decide to take our kids and surprise my son who was 7. Needless to say it was a hard for the other kids, who were 9, 11, and 12 to keep it a secret but they did. We borrowed my mom's van to take us which had no a/c. It was an extremely hot day so we drove all the way down from Barrie with all the windows and the sunroof open. We stopped at a Tim Hortons to cool the kids with Timbits and drinks. When we got to the concert, we had to park almost a km away. We got to the packed concert and found a spot on the grass. We listened to a couple of bands but waited faithfully for Nickelback which was the last concert of the night. The wind started up and we looked up over the Toronto skyline and saw funny, green clouds shrouding the CN Tower. The kids were nervous as little funnels of grass were starting to swirl. We decided to leave. It was very scary how fast the wind and clouds had come in. Just as we started to leave the rain started with huge drops pouring down, not many people left. As we came out of the entrance, we heard that they were cancelling the concert as someone was struck by lighting on the hill where we just were. As we got to the parking lot to start our km walk, a lady was getting out of a cab so I went in the cab get the van and come back to get the others. When we got to the van, it was drenched inside. We had left the sunroof open. We hurried back to the others, not a fun drive. After we were all together again, we tried to dry out from being drench at the concert and the wet van but the de frost and heater stopped working. We drove north towards home. We were happy to be out of the storm but very miserably wet and cold. Like a beacon in the night, we saw a Tim Hortons. We ran through the driving rain to the Tim Hortons and it felt like we were home. We ordered coffee, hot chocolate, timbits and hot chilli. It know it seems stupid but I think we might not have made it home sane if not for the wonderful hot food that fuelled us to survive the hour trip to Barrie. The little storm turned out to be a tornado and we never did get to see Nickelback but my son has a concert t-shirt which reminds of us our adventure. The whole group still talk about how we started our trip with Tim Horton and ended it with Tim Horton and both ways we did because we knew we would get what we needed either hot or cold.
