You can find my initial story at http://www.everycup.ca/mediadetail/4851555?channel=16525&sq=&offset=10. The picture in this story was taken when Tyler turned 2 years old. About a few months after, his mom and I separated and divorced a year later. I don't see Tyler as much as I like as he lives in Price Edward Island and I live in Ontario. While it is extremely tough to be so far away, we have a very strong relationship. He is the love of my life.
Every summer, he spends one month with me. Every Christmas, I fly in on Boxing Day and spend two weeks with him. Tyler is now 11 years old, and our relationship grows stronger each day. One of the first things we always do when we see each other is try to hit a Tim Hortons. Those Timmy times are where we talk about school, life, growing, up, the birds and the bees (yikes).
My word of advice ... hang on to the small traditions with your family. Such traditions are key to building a foundation with your children.
Happy New Year all!
Lyndon
