Making Memories

My Dad lived the last three years of his life in a nursing home and suffered from Alzheimers. My Mom and my siblings visited frequently and inevitably at least one of us would bring him a treat from 'Timmies', as did numerous other visitors over the years. . At first, it was the french vanilla cappucino, and a couple of cookies, but eventually he wasn't able to drink the hot drinks, so we switched to ice caps and frozen lemonade. On special occassions when the whole family gathered at the nursing home, someone was tasked with picking up the 'TImmies' on thier way out, a sizeable task, given that there are 6 kids and we usually had several grandkids and/or spouses in tow! Even toward the end of his life, although dad didn't recognize all of us, he sure recognized the treats, and his eyes lit up when he saw them. He always had a sweet tooth! Sadly, Dad passed away last December, but we have lots of great memories of him, and Tim Hortons is a part of quite a few of them!
Now, my Mom is in the hospital recovering from a knee replacement, and she always looks forward to a French Vanilla Cappucino and a sweet treat when the family comes to visit too! Something about a Tim's makes a hospital visit or stay that much more bearable! thanks Tim, for the memories!
