As a brand new and enthusiastic lead curler on a ladies team, I was eager to learn the game and followed the skip's instructions carefully. During one game, the second on the team threw her rock toward the skip's broom. The vice began to sweep so I joined her. She knew what she was doing. Young and strong, I swept as hard as I could. The vice was quite a bit older and in my esteemed opinion was not much of a sweeper. It was near the last end and she was tired. As the vice slowed down and stopped I heard the skip yell "Good Girl Mary!". I swept harder. "Good Girl Mary! I repeatedly heard. The words were music to my ears. As the rock slid threw the house I smiled with delight at the skip, thrilled that she would compliment me. She returned a blank face. She asked why I was sweeping. I replied that she'd said "Good Girl Mary!" She responded "You owe me a TIMS! I was saying "LET IT CURL MARY!"
