For the love of the game

My son Jeremie curls out of the Lakeshore Curling Club in Sackville Nova Scotia as a Tim Hortons Little Rock. This is his 5th year and has absolutely fallen in love with the game. Two years ago at the age of 9 he went as a spare to one of the local tournaments where his team consisting of 9-12 year olds were competing against some teams that were 13-14 years old. They were the smallest team out there with the other kids standing a good foot taller than them. The other parents and coaches were amazed at this tiny team that regardless of the fact that they were dead last in the standings they still had smiles on their faces. Saturday night fell along with a huge snow storm, sitting around the table with Tim Hortons Hot Chocolate in hand the team had to make a decision..they were now down to only 3 players as the other two left due to the snowstorm. With excitement they yelled lets finish this. The last game was a hard one that night, they were exhausted with only one sweeper.. the boys had to help sweep their own rocks..Everyone was impressed with the determination of these three young boys that proved to the older ones the true meaning of team spirit,and how its not about winning or losing, its about having fun and loving the sport. Although they lost that game, they won alot more, the respect and words of encouragement from the other teams. To this day when he plays if his team loses he always tells me.."Mom, we lost big time but I still had fun and that's all that matters"
