We were visiting our daughter Julie and family in Golden, BC when a phone call came in for our son-in-law Brent from high up in the Kootenay Rockies. It was the leader of a snowmobile safari with a VERY special request. He had 14 thirsty snowmobilers in the wilderness who wanted Tim Hortons coffee and goodies delivered via helicopter. Julie and Brent own the Tim Hortons in Golden and at first Brent thought it was a joke –so he asked the caller to phone the Helicopter company and make the flight arrangements. Well sure enough, a call from Canadian Helicopters confirmed they had been hired by the group to deliver the Tim Horton treats.
My daughter, who was expecting her second child the very next day, was disappointed that she couldn’t go too. So Brent, my six year old grandson Nicholas and I boarded the helicopter and away we went over several mountain ranges for a 25 minute flight into the snowy wilderness. All fourteen snowmobiles and their drivers were lined up on a ridge waiting, cameras in hand.
Hot Coffee, Donuts, Muffins and lots of smiling faces. What a delivery!
Oh, and our granddaughter was born the next day!
