While playing in the provincials last year, my team and I would climb into the freezing car every morning and stop at Tim Hortons for breakfast on our way to the club. We would rush inside and say hello to the wonderful woman that worked at the counter every morning, serving us coffee and muffins as she smiled and laughed with us. She was a curling fan, and on the fourth day she even came with her husband to one of our games in the evening! On the last day, as we were heading home, we stopped in to say goodbye. Although we hadn’t won, we were pleased with our week and had had an incredible experience. She was eager to share in the moment with us, and laughed with us as we told our stories of shots missed and shots made, games won and lost, and mostly of the amazing people we had met. Our week at provincials was fantastic, and the kindness of the Tim Horton’s staff only helped to make it even more memorable.
