I was in the Military and naturally, our family moved around a lot. In the early seventies, my wife and I were living in Central Canada and curling out of one of the Military Curling Clubs. One evening, soon after we started curling there, we were socializing after a game over a good cup or two of Tim Hortons coffee, as was customary if you happened to be on the losing side! One of the local curlers asked my wife where she was from. She told him she was from the Maritimes and described exactly where she called home. Well! He was some surprised and replied that he also was from the Maritimes and even in the same general area. He then told her that he had a good friend from her home town and mentioned his name. Well! My wife could not believe her ears and she excitedly told him that his good friend was also her brother. After some more animated chit-chat he mentioned that his friend had a younger sister and he gave her name. At that point my wife screamed out "that's me!" Talk about a coincidence and another sign that it is really a "Small World". Naturally, that fellow became a good friend of ours and our paths crossed again after we both were retired from the Military and re-settled in the Maritimes. Curling and Tim Hortons always manage to unite our diverse worlds!
