Our group had entered a float in Fort St John's July 1st parade. At the eleventh hour the person who was to wear the mascot costume cancelled. A young man stepped up to help us. The costume fit him well. The weather was miserable, cold with drizzling rain. We waited more than an hour while the officials organized the entries. We were chilled, cold to the bone, especially the children. A lady brought many cups of Tim Hortons hot chocolate and coffee.
Timmy's saved our day! We were warm again. The young man in the costume gave a memorable performance. He interacted with the kids and adults lining the parade route. Months later while watching a curling match, I recognized our hero of the hour. None other than Carter Rycroft. We remain his dedicated fans.
