Curling story? We don’t just have curling STORIES- we eat, sleep, and breathe curling. The other half of our lives are devoted to our love for… Tim Hortons. My best friend and I are competitive curlers and full time university students, and between those two things, we need a lot of coffee! Our friends make fun of us for our love of the sport (YES, it IS a sport!) of curling, and for our Tim’s obsession, but we figure they’ve just never felt true love! For us, Tim’s and curling always go together! Whether it’s on our way to an early morning practice, or coming home from a late night game, we can always scrounge together the exact change for our usual French vanilla and double double, even if it means digging through our curling bags to use our flipping coin! Driving the team van through the Tim’s drive through is an essential part of any out of town bonspiel, and one time we even had to change our route to make sure we drove through a town with a Tim’s in it! (there was a lot of protest when a parent suggested we could get our coffee somewhere else!) One of our favourite pastimes is picking up Tim’s after a Sunday morning practice and coming home to watch our favourite curling stars on TV (complete with jumping on the couch yelling HAAAAARD, and being too nervous to watch last rock draws!). However, nothing could beat our experience when the Tim Hortons Brier came to Winnipeg! Armed with our Tim’s coffee and treats to keep us warm, we skipped school to soak up every minute of it, and seeing our inspiration in action did not disappoint! We’re about as Canadian as you can get- proud to live in Winnipeg, proud to be curlers, and even more proud to be taking Tim Hortons along for the ride! (or should we say slide….!)
